Shawn Fleming
Founder
Hi, my name is Shawn Fleming I created Guitar Reference Guide in 2011. I created the site so my students would have a resource for following up on stuff we worked on in the lessons. My goal then and now is to have a easy to navigate source for learning the guitar. The content includes lesson tutorials, rhythm and lead guitar lessons on learning songs, jam tracks to practice with and a abundant library of PDF’S for finding and understand chords, scales, music theory etc. I try to add new material as often as possible but having a full teaching schedule and a family sometimes makes it difficult to add as much as I would like. I have been teaching guitar at Truetone Music in Santa Monica, California since 1998. I have taught well over 1500 students over the year’ and average 50-60 private lessons a week. I think the information age we live in is extraordinary for learning the guitar. YouTube has been an incredible resource for everyone I know and has accelerated how fast people can learn the guitar. Although You Tube is an amazing resource I think it is really important especially when you start to get guitar lessons from someone in person. This will ensure you don’t develop bad habits and have the right technique. It will also accelerate your learning and playing because you will know the right things to focus on when practicing. Having short term goals to reach your long term ones is key and a good teacher can help you reach those goals with the right lesson plan. One of the most important things is to get out and play with other people. Learning how to listen, developing your ear and communicating musically with others will help you exponentially. It also makes learning more fun.
If you like what you you see and would like to take a lesson in person please check out my personal website www.shawnfleming.com. Thank You So Much!! I hope Guitar Reference Guide helps you become a better player. Shawn Fleming.
