"Knockin on Heavens Door" by Bob Dylan is a great, easy song for beginner's that has been also recorded by Eric Clapton and Gun's and Roses. It is in the key of G and the chord progression is only 4 measures. The chords are G, D to E minor and then G, D to C. It is good to get the changes down before attempting the strum pattern. I would recommend starting out by playing half note rhythm's (2 beats per strum). Once you feel you have memorized the progression and can play it in time it is important to try and play along with the recording.
