This song is played with a capo at the 2nd fret and the chords are G, Dsus4, Em and C. I also play it without a capo in the first position and although the chords are easy getting the right rhythm down is the challenging part of this song. It has a reggae feel and uses some muting to get a very percussive sound. Click here to view or print the music. Enjoy. Click for video |

Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" is a great song for the beginner to intermediate guitarist. In the first part of the video I play it with a capo at the 4th fret and the chords are G, Em, Bm and A. This is how I would try playing it if you are a beginner. The second part of the video I play it using all bar chords B, A♭m, E♭m and the A chord. The strumming pattern is very consistent but incorporates muting the strings which gives it a very percussive sound. If you want to try taking a solo over the song it is in the key of B. This is a good song for the intermediate guitarist. There are three chord progressions for the song "Karma Police" by Radiohead. The song is in the key of G and has some really cool chord changes. The Aminadd9 chord is the most difficult chord in the song but you can substitute a standard A minor chord in place of it if it proves to be to difficult. Once you can play all three of the chord progressions listen to the song and try playing along with it. Listening for the different progressions in the song and writing them out in the proper sequence will make playing along with the song a lot easier. This a great song. Enjoy and good luck. "A Hard Rain Is Going To Fall" by Bob Dylan is in the key of E and is in a 3/4 time signature. He uses a capo at the 2nd fret and is at a very fast tempo, 192 bpms (beats per minute). Although he only uses the D, G and A chords the songs unusual number of bars for each section make it extra challenging to follow. Because he is using a capo the actual chords would be E, A and B. Because of the tempo and time signature this is a great song to learn if you want to work on your strumming. I recommend using the PDF to play along with the recording. Enjoy.
