Shawn Fleming started playing guitar at the age of 14. He studied classical guitar at Combs College of Music and Florida Atlantic University for four years. After completing his studies, he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his musical career. For four years, Shawn worked as a professional musician playing with with various musical acts. The groups would mostly play bar gigs, weddings, parties, corporate events and receptions. To supplement his income, Shawn began teaching guitar for Larry Little at Ace Music in 1996. He taught there for two years before moving to his current studio in Truetone Music. Over the past 13 years, Shawn has taught over a 1000 students . He currently averages between fifty to sixty students a week. Some of Shawn’s clients have included singer/songwriters Sophie B. Hawkins, Jill Sobule and Eric Benet and guitarists Chris Schifflet of the Foo Fighters, Jason Orm who performs and records with Alanis Morrisette . Also included is guitarist Liam Stewart who plays with Courtney Love, actors Pierce Brosnan and Adam Rodriguez of CSI Miami, comedian/author Greg Behrent. Although Shawn spends most of his time teaching, he also performs on a regular basis in many different ensembles. His quartet “Fleming and Friends” plays straight ahead jazz and is available for bookings.
